I don’t know about you, but my ‘pinkies and palms’ have ALWAYS been my biggest trouble makers the practice room.
All throughout the ‘middle of the horn’ everything can be working great but when I get to the the lower and upper extremes of the horn… Well, let’s just say there’s room for improvement. Know what I mean?
You wanna know what finally opened up the full range of the horn for me?
Practice! (What a surprise, right!?) But more specifically targeted practice…
Here are a few exercises like the ones that my students and I have used to tame those unruly parts of the horn.
Try doing the exercises as part of your warm-up routine this week. I guarantee you feel more and more comfortable down low and up high!
